WoS - Remedy Entertainment

Welcome to a new tag I am calling the Wall of Shame. This tag will feature either a game developer or publisher that has screwed the PC market, generally with a complete lie or shady practice. In today's tight economy I believe its important to understand where your money is going, and who you should and should not support regardless of your gaming console preferences. So, to kick off The Wall of Shame, I introduce:

Remedy Entertainment

The creator of Max Payne is finally talking about their new IP, Alan Wake. Unfortunately, part of the talking involved the announcement that no PC release was planned. The reason (via a Microsoft rep):

"Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience Alen Wake was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive. Both Microsoft and Remedy have long histories in PC game development. This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform."

That's a really bad excuse in my book, considering a 32" monitor on a desk looks bigger then a 50"er from afar. Alan Wake doesn't exactly seem like a "social" game that you need an audience either.

The real reason for the lack of PC has more to do with the publisher Microsoft. MS wants it to be an X360 exclusive, much as we've seen with Halo and Gears of War. Don't be surprised if we see Mr. Wake next year on the PC. Although it looks to be Microsoft's fault, Remedy must shoulder the responsibility to cut the pitiful excuses and stick up for PC development.
