The List - October 2014

PC games worthy of mention for this month, ordered by my interest. (Monthly US releases are only estimated, game may end up all hype and really suck).  Its autumn, release the AAA titles!

Shadow of Mordor - Action
This game take the mechanics of the Batman Arkham series, tosses that into the Lord of the Rings universe, while managing a little something new.  The idea of managing your enemy is a new twist, that could help or hurt the game, depending on your mood.

Civilization: Beyond Earth - Strategy
Sid Meier returns with the spiritual successor to Alpha Centauri.  Also know as Future Civ.

Costume Quest 2 - action
A fun kids game with all the character and charm you'd expect from a Double Fine game.

Alien: Isolation - Survival Horror
After the last Alien fiasco, its had to take this license seriously.  That said, this approach has merit.  A survival Horror, based on a Thriller movie.  Watch out though for the Season Pass DLC model.

Dreamfall: Chapters - Adventure
Easy to miss this among all the larger names.  Dreamfall (The Longest Journey) makes its return, embracing the episodic model.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel - shooter
More Borderlands, now in near zero gravity.  4 new characters: Wilhelm the Enforcer, Nisha the Lawbringer, Athena the Gladiator, and Claptrap.
