In response to scummy tactics mobile market apps use to trick kids into clicking on micro-transactions.
"The great mobile paidophile. Lays in wait for your children to microtransact."

Just remember kids, Apple skims some of that profit and does little to prevent the tactics.

Gaming on a Mac
![]() |
| As seen on Reddit |
It really is a dumb argument, which is better Mac or PC, as far as gaming goes. A Mac is a PC, just as much as my beloved C64 was a PC. The Computer Gamer games on a PC, no matter the OS.
or as bchociej put it:
"Mac vs Windows : Apple vs Orange
Mac vs PC : Apple vs Fruit"

State of Diablo 3
IGN User Quote:
"You know with Runic's Torchlight having TWO releases within a couple years of each other and other games of similar style coming out fast with small teams, I don't understand why such an enormous company like Blizzard can't even get one game out without 10 years of developement. I'm so glad amateur studios are keeping the genre alive, Blizzard employees must work either 2 hours a day or waste most of the day talking about WoW. This game [Path of Exile] looks nice!"

PS3 a Flop?
Silicon Alley Insider reports reasons the PS3 isn't selling as well as others.
- It's the most expensive console on the market, $150 - $200 more than its rivals. Even if you believe the video game industry is "recession-proof" (it isn't), a tanking economy makes consumers more price-conscious.
- The PS3's big bonus is its ability to double as a Blu-Ray player. Too bad no one seems to care about hi-def DVDs. The differences between Blu-Ray and DVD are hard to see on a TV less than 50".
- The PS3 just doesn't have any must-have titles exclusive to the console. "LittleBigPlanet" has generated decent buzz but isn't a game-changer, and neither is Sony's new virtual world "Home."

Quote on Empire: Total War
"Tiny men onboard ships scream in panic as they leap into the sea, their bodies on fire. Cannonballs glide through their intended targets, bombarding friendly hulls on the other side. I start to get dizzy when I think about the equations and algorithms governing the flight of every little bit of ordnance flying through the map."

State of the PC
"I think the PC market right now is a very strong place. It's stronger than it's ever been. The business models have changed, consumer tastes have changed, the way people pay for content, microtransactions, downloadable content, online services, in-game ads, these are all kinds of different flavors…You know at the end of the day it all comes down to can you make a really great game really fun for your fans? And if you can do that and you understand who your fans really are, I think it's an incredibly great opportunity to develop for PC."

Steam vs Xbox Live
This came from an interview with Valve's Chet Faliszek on IGN:
"Another factor is that we update the PC side all the time, and the way Xbox Live works we can't do that. If you look at Team Fortress, we're updating that once every two weeks, and it's frustrating because we can't do that [on the 360]. We have a big update coming up on the 360 and we're going to keep updating the 360 version but they're not in step with the PC version."

Quote on Diablo
"The Diablo series is what happens when you let red-blooded, meat-eating Americans make a role-playing game. Gone are the androgynous heroes, talking raccoons and quests that revolve around retrieving used panties you find in Japanese RPGs, replaced instead with demon killing. Lots and lots demon killing."

PC Lives on
Here's another reason the PC will continue to thrive in this consoles generation. A quote from Capcom producer Kobayashi during a Gamespy interview.
"Capcom has a PC-based engine that they use to develop games and Devil May Cry 4 was developed with that same PC engine. Basically it branches out from there. You can have it on one central PC engine, and then make it compatible for the PS3 or the 360, so it's really just one workflow."
FYI, Resident Evil 5 is a Capcom game.

Good Quote
Found this at the Gamasutra site, referring to the history of Zork.
“The majority of people that play computer games today do not even entertain the notion that text adventure games are games at all. In their minds ‘games=graphics’; If they see a jumble of text on their screen they're much more likely to think their computer crashed than consider the possibility they're playing a game.”– Howard Sherman, President of Malinche Entertainment
