It's Olympic season again, which reminds me of the classic "Games" Series from EPYX. These were a great group of games for the whole family. Although we went through a crap load of joysticks because of some of the events, each sporting event had a compettitive feal that captured the spirt of olympics with every load. Anyways, the media seems to rank the medal standings by whomever gets the most medals, is the top dog. But to me, that makes no sense because if a country has 10 bronze and no golds, I don't really think you should be on top. The Games Series had a great scoring method where each gold = 3 points, silver = 2, and bronze = 1. Then you just sum up everything. So at the time I wrote this article, the medal standings were (G-S-B-Medal totals-Epyx totals)...
Norway 1-6-6-13-21
Germany 5-4-2-11-25
Russia 5-2-4-11-23
Canada 2-4-5-11-19
USA 6-3-1-10-25
So really, the standing are-
Germany and USA tied for first
Russia
Norway
Canada
In the event of a tie, then the one with the most medals can take the top spot, so I guess that puts the Germans on top...for now.
