Many PC gamers have been waiting long and hard for this moment. One could look back as far as the original Nintendo system, when the console supposedly revived the video game industry, and began the decade long argument that PC gaming is dead. Why are PC gamers looking toward the Microsoft online service that launches May 8th? Well, its finally the opportunity to lay to rest who can kick who's butt on what platform and control style. So this is great, we should all jump in right?
Well, ,not so fast. First, the only game we can cross battle is Shadowrun. Shadow-who? Wasn't that some RPG cyberpunk game, now FPS? What about a good game of Battlefield, or Unreal Tournament? What about any big online game that has a huge fan base? Not even the newly released Halo 2 for PC will hook up to the Xbox players. What?!? So we get just Shadowrun. No driving sims, no big shooters, no strategy. Not exactly the showdown I was hoping for.
But wait, there's more. That right, its also gonna cost you $49.95 US per month to enjoy the cross competition. What about LANs so I can PAWN Xboxers to shame in person, what about incentives to pay a monthly fee? We'll crap. I waited all this time for this? Call me in a year from now when there may be something worth talking about with Xbox Live. Until then, I'll stick to Doom 1, sounds more exciting.
