If you read any of the major review sites to determine whether or not you should pour you money (~$50) into a game, you may be missing out on the biggest news this year regarding the industry.
It would seem that a Gamespot reviewer has been fired over a poor review. Er...that's a poor review over a game that just so happens to run ads on the Gamespot site. Joystiq and Penny Arcade have done a good job releasing details to the public. Unfortunately, the major reviewers that rely heavily on ads, like IGN and such, have failed to release any info. Hmmm, go figure. Perhaps it has something to do with corporate control over the major review sites? So, what do we learn from this? Think twice about who you read your reviews from.
