PC games worthy of mention for this month, ordered by interest and I explain why.
(Monthly US releases are only estimated).
Fallout 3 - RPG
Well, I still havn't finished the second, but that won't stop me from drooling at this. Made by new developers, then the first... this is one of the most hyped games of the year, so it has a heck of a hill to climb.
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - RTS
The first AAA RTS game that will included a coop campaign. Add on the expected cheesey script and units with an all star cast...this could be very promising.
Saints Row 2 - action
An over the top, in your face, Grand Theft Auto type game. The real draw for me is that it has true campaign co-op. There are some early reported issues with coop, however overall, THQ gets some street cred for the move, and belongs high on the list. Oh, and its only $40.
Dead Space - FPS
Billed as a Bioshock atmosphere only in space. We'll have to wait and see if the storyline can live up to the hype.
Far Cry 2 - FPS
Don't be fooled, this is not a Crytek game, who made the first. That said, we all expect the same thing. Open environments, shitty story line, pretty graphics, oh and explosions. This should be the mindless game of the year, but we all need these to break up the thinking games. Versus mutiplay has been getting good reviews thus far.
Silent Hill: Homecoming - Horror
A sign of the times, this game will only be available through Steam. This is the 4th available game in the series for the PC with 2 & 3 available on Gametap. Make no mistake, this game is a conversion from console, much like the others. The controls in 2 & 3 were so clunky, it'll be nice to experience the Silent Hill atmosphere in a modern usable setting.
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway - strategy
The reviews so far have been fair, while the co-op element sounds like its non-existent. That said, I like the concept of the series, and will continue to encourage it. If you were a fan of Full Spectrum Warrior, and can handle a shooter that isn't run-and-gun, it should still be worth checking out.
