[Past the Hype focuses on the games that have been featured in the monthly The List, that failed miserably in reviews. Its my way of saying, sorry I as was sucked into thinking this game was going to be good.]
Dark Void
This game took the novelty concept of a jet pack, and made it into a novelty shooter. 58 Metacritic score reflects similar message.
Aliens vs. Predator
What had been considered a quality game in the late nineties, translates into just another vs shooter in 2010. While some shooters from the ninties, can still live up to its greatness today (System Shock 2, Outlaws, No one lives Forever, etc) its because they have a great plot line/story. Redux the same thing with the same gameplay elements (or lack of), and you'll get a 'meh' game.
Silent Hunter 5
Its never good when a series takes a step back from its past successes, best to stay with SH4 if you enjoy sub sims.
Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight
Anytime you claim, "This is the final chapter" to a well loved series, you best get it done right. After 3 previous iterations of the story, and various other spin offs, all the developers needed to do was deliver a solid story, enhance the graphics, and call it a day. Instead, they killed the base building strategy formula for the tactical approach. Really, C&C hasn't been the same, since Westwood Studios was gobbled up.
