The Myth Killer

I'll have to admit, what your not going to see in this site is a lot about The Sims or MMORPG. I strongly believe these games get way too much attention at other sites, and can ultimately leave PC in the dust, if the PC genera continues to go in that direction. So how can too much of a good thing be a bad thing? I call this the Myth effect.

Many don't realize that the Adventure game Myth was the beginning of the end for Adventure games. Reason: it was popular. So popular, people that normally would not play, were playing the game. While it had great graphics like a Hollywood blockbuster, it lacked interaction with people. Dialog is HUGE for adventure gaming, yet Myth had non of that. Zero. Zilch. And that is what the masses though an adventure game is. So the publishers wanted to mimic the Myth effect. Results: Adventure gaming bacame typecasted: Sam and Max cancelled, Lucas Arts sucks, and adv genera gaming considered stale. It's truly been "The Longest Journey" for adventure gaming.

Final case-in-point. When someone says SIMS, today we think of some computer guy mowing the lawn or washing the dishes and not of the great Sim City series or Civilization. Yes, Civ is a strategic Sim.
