E3: No More, No More

Reports are coming in that are indicating that E3 as we know it is over. Main reason is due to cost over run. Secondary reasons are due to other conventions both corporate and public. Real reason: after this December, all "Next-Gen" consoles will be available, so the industry won't have anything to talk about. Perhaps they'll even be embarrassed from the over hype they gave the consoles.

Still, E3 is important as its what American gamers look forward to. Its what gets people talking in their cubicles at work. Its what reminds non gamers that the gaming community is huge, and we can't be ignored. So, I propose E3 reps and respected companies find a better solution than E3 lite.

First of all, your having it in California. Dumb. Could you pick a more expensive state to be in? How about a nice dying state like Michigan, where they'll give you a butt load of tax breaks to show, not to mention the venue/rooms will be cheaper. Yes, people do game outside of the west coast. A friend of mine was surprised to hear that people actually gamed in Michigan. Geez, you know we don't become one of the fattest states for our love of the outdoors. We love our video games and TV. Add in the nasty winters that keep us indoors, Michigan is a natural mecca for gamers. So, bring E3 back to its glory, and move it out, May/June is a lovely time of the year.

In closure, we should have seen the end near, when they dumbed down the booth babes.
