Gods of RTS - Part 4

...Continued from Part 1, Part 2, Part 3...

The following are honorable mentions of the RTS Genera. I lack the first hand knowledge of these games, but regardless should be included.

Creative Essembly (Total War Series) - Total War is best known for breaking away from the usual Dune 2 resource dependent RTS. Instead, they concentrated on large scale armies that tough it out through pure strategy. Toss on a Risk style campaign with a good storyline, and you get great game play. While other companies have tried the same style, no one has come close to Creative Essemblys marks. With medieval 2 on the horizon, plus Eras at the storefront, Total War has a lot of life left in it.

Total Annihilation - Chris Taylor - Credited as the first true 3D RTS, is known for giving the modern RTS the boast to where its at today. Known for fast paced, mass units, downloadable units (very The Sims) , great music, and innovative interface. It was the game that had it all. Chris strayed from greatness with the ARPG Dungeon Siege Series, but will be back on RTS's with the spiritual successor of Total Annihilation in 2007 called Supreme Commander. After seeing the trailers, is looks like a new bar will be set for RTS.
