E3 Awards

I'll have to admit, As much as I enjoy comparing which platform got the most attention for events like E3, or games of the year listings on various game review sites, it would seem that The E3 awards are irrelevant. Heck, E3 in its new format seemed irrelevant. The news I read was mostly second/third preview of stuff most already knew about. Many companies foresaw this, and didn't even bother showing their wares, like Spore or Starcraft3. So, running the compare of platforms for E3 just seems a bit flat this year. If E3 continues like this, I just may have to stick just to the end of year award stuff.

Anyways, according to Gamespy's E3 Awards, the platform breakdown looks like this:

X360 - 7
PC - 5
Ps3 - 5
NDS - 1
Wii - 0

Analysis - Microsoft spent the most money at E3, Nintendo the least. The Wii sells its self, so why bother showcasing any games. The PC is still a base platform, so it still gets all the big titles by default, but very little exclusives. The PS3 needs to do better in the game title department. $600 for a PS3 that has games available on the cheaper X360, sorry Sony. This E3 strengthens my belief that there is no reason to leave the PC for another gaming platform.
