Triple Vision

There a 3 games that were featured in E3 that all look alike. These are futuristic shooters that are designed around multi-player 1st person gameplay.

They are:
Unreal tournament 2007
Battlefield 2142
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

Expect the usual from all 3. Vehicles - Hover crafts, mechs, bad assed tanks. Classes - scouts, multi grunt, heavy artillery, medic, support. Weapons - cool laser guns, rail guns, missile launcher, etc.

All three games have a rich PC history, in a way building from one another. Quake gets credit for being the first in the genre, Unreal cleaned it up and made it better adding unique styles of gameplay, Battlefield added vehicles, Quake adds storyline, Battlefield adds authenticity, then finally Unreal cleans it all up with vehicles and more unique gameplay.

The Verdict-
My money is on Unreal Tournament 2007, as I think, with their multi-platform releases will give them the most visibility and their game style has always rocked. The new publisher may add some pros or cons to the series we'll have to see. Battlefield will loose its greatest strength, which was authenticity, by going into the sci-fi future. Quake's last release did not do so well, so I don't expect many to care about the story line anymore. Besides, who plays a massive multiplayer shooter for the storyline. Need proof, just check out the sales for Star Wars Battlefront 1 & 2. Not so good.

Lastly, hopefully they will put some time into a good AI, but that's unlikely.
