Video Game Franchise Round Up

IGN has recently ran an article about the top 25 franchises of all time. While it seems a bit weighted, I thought I'd do my usual statistics breakdown to see where the PC came out. Since most good franchises are cross platform and can span generations of systems I decided to break everything down by the company this time. Using Mobey Games Database, I gave a point to the group that had the most games per franchise. If a particular title had multiple platforms for a title from the same company (IE gameboy and SNS) then it still counted as one point. Here's how it came out:

Sega - 2
Sony - 5
Nintendo - 9
PC - 9

Well, this is one of those rare moments where PC doesn't end up running away with the competition. But WAIT! IGN just came out with another top 10 about franchises that were good, but now suck. So, I guess since the franchise sucks these days, maybe I should deduct points from the list above. So that's see... Donkey Kong, Mega Man, Mario, Castlevania, and Sonic all suck these days. This is proof that some franchises should just die, instead of milking the IP for what it is. No Point for YOU! New Break down:

Sega - 1
Sony - 5
Nintendo - 5
PC - 9
