I had a conversation the other day, regarding how the PC got another nail in the coffin, because the upcoming Star Wars game, The Force Unleashed, is going to be on all the platforms, including PS2, but not the PC. So, his conclusion; the PC is dead because Lucasarts says so.
Well, I like to stack the numbers, so some history is in order. Using the Moby Games website, I tallied all the Star Wars Universe related games. The results:
PC - 49
Sony - 18
Nintendo - 17
Microsoft Xboxes - 15
Atari - 5
Okay, so maybe this isn't fair. PC has been around for decades, while the Xboxes are mere babes. Yet, how those numbers are close for consoles. Also, many PC star wars games in the past were "edutainment" titles. And I did count expantions, including Galaxies expantions.
So next, I looked at ratio of console verse PC:
Console only : 20
Mix platforms: 24
PC exclusives: 28
So this shows, this isn't the first time the PC lost out in Lucas Land. 20 times actually. So what's one more title. Here's a list of titles, I thought were disappointing the PC lost out on.
Rouge Squadron Series - PC only saw 1st of a trilogy.
Pod Racer 2 - The 1st of these became one of my favorite racing sims.
Obi-wan - was marketed as a spiritual successor to Jedi Knight series. In reality, it wasn't even close. So, In reality I wasn't too upset.
Bounty Hunter - a shooter, in the SW universe, no PC.
